This course focuses on the importance of air transport in today's world. Starting from the delight of the flight and the journey the course develops a systematic examination of all the interdisciplinary key components that make up the spatial environment of the modern airport. It has a seminar character and addresses the main issues concerning programming, organization, architectural composition and aeronautics poetry. Aviation technology and economy issues, aircraft development, master plan design and passenger terminology architecture and architecture are being explored. The terminal building is approached as an architetctural creation, responding to a variety of complex programmatic and functional requirements, that is called at the same time to express the symbolic meaning of travel, flight, but also to act as a cultural landmark. The works of many well-known foreign architects include a large number of interesting terminal buildings, all over the world are presented in class. The airport architecture is examined as a part of the cultural and social context that addresses in particular the relations and the effects of the airport on the landscape, the environment and urban development. Students are asked to prepare a brief investigation and critical commentary.
