Urban tissue, public space, everyday life. The course focuses on medium scale urban design and aims to introduce students to three interconnected issues, which have to do with principles and methods of intervention in urban space. - The urban tissue, that is to say the complex matrix of forms, uses, functions and interconnections between built and unbuilt spaces and the analysis and understanding of the mutual constitution of space and society. - Public space, as a constitutive element of the city and the ways in which its meanings and importance can be enhanced. - Everyday life, in all its complexity and multi-facetednesss deriving from the practices and ways of life of various groups of urban residents differentiated by social class, age, gender, ethnicity, culture, etc
