Investigation of issues related to the design of factory buildings from their historical origin to the modern era of the flexible accumulation of capital. An emphasis is given on the “social” and “economic”, character of the space of every factory. It studies the design of the industrial spaces from the industrial revolution until nowadays (in Europe and in Greece) in parallel with the development of the machine and building technology, the labour organization and the dominant architectural trends every era.
