The theme of the lesson is the marches that we repeat every day in the city. The course examines the movements, the means, the landscapes, the sounds of our daily route, in order to reconstruct its dynamics and restore the specificity of an experience, which, although it has a decisive influence on our relationship with urban space, is automated and its significance is diminished due to its repetition.
Experiments with a free choice of media (video, sound files, processed drawings, actions, notes, maps, diary references, photographs, etc.) will compose a visual result, which will convey the personal experience of daily movement in the city. In the final stage of the project, students are asked to propose an action for the public presentation of their visual study on the move in the physical space they are referring to, i.e. on their own route. The experiments in the workshop will encourage the investigation of public space through artistic practices of contemporary visual arts, focusing on the particular conditions of movement and the simultaneous visual perspective of observer and user.
