Sustainability, production, economy, democracy, democracy, justice, governance and participation are major issues that involve planning and that concern both the urban condition and the environment. Planning today is being redefined based on the principles of ecology and the directions dictated by the need for sustainability, and the goals of participation.Starting from the theoretical analysis of the concepts, the course aims to approach the planning of space according to the above concepts, with the ultimate goals of sustainability, self-sufficiency, and quality of life.
Through the introduction of the theoretical framework, examples and exercises, the proposed course identifies the ways in which planning is repositioned as a field and as a process that is called upon to address today’s and tomorrow’s local and global challenges.
