The subject of the course is the theoretical and compositional approach to architectural design through the investigation of the basic parameters that determine it, as a reverse compositional process, from the architectural work to the way it is constituted.
The subject of the course is the theoretical and compositional approach to architectural design through the investigation of the basic parameters that determine it, as a reverse compositional process, from the architectural work to the way it is constituted. Architectural works are analysed morphologically and interpreted through parameters such as function, place, the wider cultural conditions, materials and methods of construction, and above all, the choices and the guiding intention and will of the architect-creator, as to how all the above parameters are organised and combined into a central idea, or a system of compositional principles, or a scenario, which determines the character of each work. The course aims to develop students’ theoretical and compositional skills for critical reflection on architectural forms and critical reflection in the process of architectural composition.
