The course will explore the concept of the polis (metropolis) as it was formed in the 20th century through the projects of architects and artists. The seminars will start with Le Corbusier’s Ville Radieuse and will end with Lebbeus Woods’ The New City. The projects are divided into seven sections and each section includes two projects (in total 14). The division is based on the historical era and the theoretical framework of each project. The course will be based on lectures by the tutor and presentations by the students. The aim of the course is to help students to engage to critical analysis of a project through drawing and writing.
