The aim of the postgraduate studies in the MSc “Urban and Spatial Planning” is to strengthen scientific and technological research and the production of new knowledge in urban and spatial planning. The aim is the interdisciplinary training of engineering graduates of the National Technical University of Greece or other higher education institutions of the country or graduates of equivalent universities abroad, with specialization studies in urban planning and spatial planning, as well as the in-depth training of scientists, in order to enable them to produce new knowledge.
The postgraduate studies of the MSc “Urban Planning and Spatial Planning” lay the foundations for systematic research in
issues of space and the city
. In addition to the faculty members of the coordinating and collaborating schools of the Hellenic University of Applied Sciences, many professors from other universities of the country and abroad, qualified scientists with rich professional experience and doctoral candidates are employed in this programme. The interdisciplinary nature of the programme contributes to a better coverage of issues in an area that is considered interdisciplinary by nature, which is particularly important due to the diversity of the student population (architects, topographers, civil engineers, spatial planning engineers, environmentalists, geographers, etc.) The aim is to provide in-depth training for executives of the public sector and professional planners in general, at a time when the issues of urban and spatial planning are gaining particular importance in Greece. Finally, the aim is to disseminate contemporary concerns about the transformations of urban, peri-urban and extra-urban space, thus helping to approach them more systematically in order to facilitate the preparation of postgraduate studies and dissertations.
