Short CV:
Christos Papastergiou was born in Athens. He is a qualified architect engineer, he graduated from the School of Architecture, NTUA, he is a holder of a master’s degree (MSc) in the Design-Space-Culture program of the NTUA School of Architecture and a PhD in Architectural Design from the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL (with a scholarship from IKY). He has taught Architectural Design studios and Theory classes at the University of Cyprus and the University of Nicosia and in 2023 he was elected Asst. Professor in Department I, Architectural Design of the NTUA School of Architecture. In 2006 he founded in London with Christiana Ioannou the architectural practice draftworks* architects which is currently based in Nicosia and Athens. The team has been awarded numerous prizes in architectural competitions, including the 1st prize in the architectural competition for the Larnaca Salt Lake Environmental Information Centre, the 2nd prize for a school complex in Palermo (in collaboration with AutonomeForme), a distinction from MIT for the project ‘The New Zidonians’ and a 1st prize for the project ‘MUUSA’ in the architectural concept competition ‘Next Helsinki’, curated by Michael Sorkin. Works by the office have been published and exhibited worldwide, such as at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2008 and 2012, the Milan Triennale 2022, Bauwelt Magazine, Site Magazine, Blueprint and Footprint Magazine and the office’s work has been featured in the book ‘ATLAS of Emerging Practices’. The built project ‘House with Four Gardens’ won the first prize in the category ‘Built Project’ and first prize in the category ‘Colleagues’ of the DOMA Awards (jury: Valerio Olgiati, Emilio Tunon, Oliver Thill) and was also nominated for the Award Piranesi 2019 and the Mies van der Rohe Award 2022. The office is involved in design and supervision of projects at various scales and with different content, such as art exhibitions, private residences, public buildings and urban developments, while giving special emphasis to the use of various architectural means such as drawings, physical models and narratives. He is a member of TEE, ETEK, SADAS, SAK and the Hellenic Institute of Architecture.
