The redistribution, reimagining of knowledge and technology through the internet and public information exchange, together with the positive reconsideration of the handmade value of the object, lead to a new manufacturing behaviour. On the basis of this obvious tendency, the “open” limits of planning are put to the test in order to activate and formulate new problematics. The course explores: – The concepts of “open design” and “potential design”. – The form and materiality of a product, its utilitarian and commercial identity, aiming at a new meaning by extending its existing function or instrumental use. – Redesign as a process of creating a personalized object that serves a personal work case.
