The postgraduate studies of the programme aim at the overall development of research in the broad and integrated field of architectural theory and practice. All the courses of the programme, while maintaining their educational autonomy, are developed in this common framework, contributing to the enrichment of conceptual tools for the multiple analysis of the subject of architecture and the systematic conceptualisation of architectural design. The courses of the programme, compulsory and optional, are organised with the aim of a systematic approach to the two directions. “Gnosticism of Architecture” and B. “Advanced Issues in Architectural Design” while providing a wide range of specialist knowledge. After many years of operation of the program and the gradual convergence of the lecturers, what characterizes each elective course is that it provides conceptual tools for writing architecture on the one hand and, depending on the specific example it refers to, it provides logics for architectural design on the other hand. In this way, all the courses contribute to ‘enriching the conceptual tools for the multiple analysis of the subject of architecture’, through specific references to concrete examples. And the essential difference between the two directions is that
This nature of the courses has proven to be particularly suitable for the development and support of each student’s research hypotheses according to his/her personal elective programme. The further organisation of the courses into modules aims to assist students in making appropriate course choices in relation to their personal research hypotheses, and at the same time to allow them to become aware of their place in the wider context of architectural research.
