It introduces the research tradition of computational approaches to design from historical, mathematical and aesthetic perspectives and develops a standard framework for understanding the role of production methods in the creative processes of design (synthesis and analysis). The Mediterranean and the Near East after the Arab expansion in the 7th century. New shopping streets and urban life. Old cities and new dynamic capitals. The desert castles and the first Arabic mosques, influences and archetypal composition.
The course attempts to highlight the changes in both cities and perceptions about them that have taken place during the last decades. Its objective is to bring the students in contact with new methodological tools in order to help them understand these changes in the complex relationship between urban planning in Greece and theories, policies and practices that are formed in the international arena. In this context, the course provides insights on issues related to the urban theory through interdisciplinary approaches that link the architectural and urban takes with readings of history, social science and human geography. The issues that will be examined are included in the scientific field of urban studies.
After the Second World War, European art, especially French art, attempted to pick up the thread where it had left off before the war, with anecdotal avant-garde art always at the forefront. Not only the pre-war avant-garde but also new ones that will continue in the footsteps of the old ones (Art Brut, Op Art, Nouveaux Réalistes, Neo-Dada, Fluxus, abstract expressionism, various geometric arts, etc.).
